Remember when...Costume in a Box

If you were a kid in the 70's/80's then you should remember the exciting time where you got to pick out your own costume & mask in a tiny cardboard box. The full face mask with the very tiny eye holes. I remember trying to shove my tongue out the tiny mouth opening. It was hard to breath behind those masks! The string that held the mask on that would always break. The full body plastic smock that stuck to you and was very noisy when running.

*sigh* Good times.

I wish we still had those available for our kids. They sure took the guess work out of what you were with the name plastered all over the front. I was thinking about those today and was wondering how much they cost back in the day. I googled some random pics up, here they are:

Chewbacca & Yoda (classics!)

Strawberry Shortcake, Spiderman & not in a box Annie

Darth Vader, Ewok(I was an Ewok junkie), Patches the Clown

Elvira, not in a box Minnie, Frankenstein

He-man, Darth Vader, Skeletor(I would always play Skeletor with my brother), Garfield, Snoopy and I think thats the Honker off Sesame St.

Jem and the Holograms

Monchhichi (I was a junkie for them too) & not in a box Leia

My Little Pony (loved them)

Pound Puppy & Pound Purry (loved 'em)

Rambo

Interestingly, I think Spider-man is the only well known survivor that most kids can pick out. Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony are hanging out on the fringes though. When my kids are older I'll force them to watch all the Star Wars movies, but right now they aren't into action movies or anything that's not cartoon.

I think I was a princess one time, but definitely remember Kim & then Billy with a clown costume.
